Residents  in Southeast Michigan that experienced residential flood damage from the storms on August 11, 2014 were granted a 20 day extension for filing  claims with FEMA. Residents now have until Sunday, December 14, 2014, to  register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency and return their disaster loan applications to the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).FEMA accepting applications for assistance. Apply for assistance by registering online at or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA(3362) or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY) for the hearing and speech impaired. The toll-free telephone numbers will operate from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. (local time) seven days a week until further notice. The only way to determine a residents/business’ eligibility for federal disaster assistance is to register with FEMA, either by phone, online, or by visiting a local recovery support site.
