Parking Rules

pr noparkingThe following information outlines the requirements and/or responsibilities for residents pertaining to block parties, graduation, and other party parking requests, trash day parking, and snow emergencies.

 
On Residential Property

Vehicles parked on residential property must be on a driveway or in a garage.  No parking is permitted on any lawn area and no portion of any public sidewalk may be blocked.  All vehicles parked outside must be licensed and legally operable on the roads of the City. (Sec. 17-85, City Code & Sec. 10.505, Zoning Ord.)

pr graduationGraduation Parties and Other Large Parties

Homeowners holding a party are responsible for controlling all party guests.  These responsibilities include, but are not limited to, noise and drinking complaints.  Permission to park on both sides of the street must be applied for at least five days prior to the party.  "file acrobatParty Parking Request Forms  (file size 277k)" may be downloaded or obtained at the Police Department.

pr garbagetruckTrash Day Parking

Parking on streets during scheduled trash collection days is prohibited between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.  Any person who violates this ordinance will be ticketed.  A parking permit may be issued as determined by the Police Department. However, there is a fee associated with parking permit.

Block Parties

A "Block Party Request Form" may be downloaded or obtained at the Police Department and submitted at least 15 business days prior to the requested date.  At least three-fourths of the households on the block where the event is to occur must approve the block party.

When a snow emergency has been declared, all vehicles MUST be removed from the streets. This means once your street is cleared on both sides, you may park on the street again.  For more information, view the Snow and Ice Removal & Snow Emergencies for the City of Madison Heights.
