Brownfield Redevelopment Authority

PURPOSE:

The Brownfield Redevelopment Authority assists property owners and businesses redevelop sites that have environmental contamination. If a site qualifies, tax incentives may be available to assist in the costs associated with clean up and redevelopment.

CREATION / AUTHORIZATION:

COMPOSITION:

  • 8-12 members of the Downtown Development Authority and the Mayor.
  • Not less than a majority of the members shall be persons having an interest in property located within the downtown district.

TERM:    4 year terms (members-at-large).

• Member of a coalition with six other Oakland County communities that was awarded $600,000
  dollar United States Environmental Protection Agency Coalition Assessment Grant. Madison
  Heights’s share $60,000.
