Twelve City departments including 146 full-time and 141 part-time professionals carry-out the day-to-day operations of city government. .

  1. Assessing

    The City contracts with the Assessing Department at Oakland County for the appraisal of all real estate and personal property for property tax purposes on an annual basis.

  2. City Clerk

    The City Clerk's Department is responsible for the official records of the City.

  3. City Manager

    The City Manager is appointed by the City Council and is responsible to the City Council for the efficient administration of all departments.

  4. Community Development

    The Community Development Department consists of seven divisions.

  5. Department of Public Services

    The Department of Public Services is responsible for the City’s infrastructure as well as programming for recreation and the City’s senior population.

  6. Finance and Treasury

    The Finance Department prepares and maintains the City's financial statements in compliance with the requirements of the Governmental Accounting Standards Board.

  7. Fire

    The Fire Department is responsible for the protection of life and property from the ravages of fire.

  8. Human Resources

    The Department researches and formulates policy as directed by the City Manager or initiated by the Department.

  9. Information Technology

    The Information Technology Department is responsible for supporting the City's Wide Area Network (WAN) and computer related functions.

  10. Library

    The mission of the Madison Heights Public Library is to provide access to information which meets the educational, cultural, and recreational needs of the community.

  11. Police

    The Madison Heights Police Department is proud of it's community awareness and invites citizens to join with us in making Madison Heights a more pleasant, comfortable, and safe place to live, work and play.
