Records


The City Clerk's Department is responsible for the official records of the City. The Department's employees attend all City Council, Brownfield Redevelopment Authority, Charter Amendment Revision Committee, Civil Service Commission, Downtown Development Authority, Economic Development Corporation, and Zoning Board of Appeals meetings.
Staff type the agendas for the meetings and prepare notices and publications. Meeting actions are recorded in the form of minutes, indices, adjustment of directories, and updates to the Code of Ordinances. Staff prepare ceremonial certificates, commendations and testimonials.

Public Notice


Public Notice for Annual 2022 Regular Meeting Dates  including City Council, Boards, Authorities and Commissions. A public notice of each special or rescheduled meeting will be posted at City Hall and on the City calendar at least 18 hours prior to the time of the meeting.

Additional Responsibilities


The City Clerk's Office is also responsible for:
  • Bicycle registration which is available for a one time fee of $2 and which is valid as long as ownership of the bike remains the same
  • Coordination of right-of-way and door-to-door solicitation permits
  • Coordination of temporary, seasonal and regular retail business licenses
  • Issuance of animal licenses
  • Issuance of certified copies of vital statistics, such as birth and death certificates, where the birth or death occurred in Madison Heights ($15 first copy; $5 additional copy)
