When paying by check or money order, please make it payable to 43rd District Court.
Please read the front and back of your citation carefully for instructions on your options.
A citation can be a civil infraction or a misdemeanor.
The defendant has these options when a civil infraction is issued
Admit responsibility without explanation for the civil infraction and pay the ticket within 14 calendar days from the date it was issued.
Admit responsibility with explanation for the civil infraction within 14 calendar days from the date it was issued by writing a letter of explanation to the Magistrate.
Deny responsibility for the civil infraction by contacting the Court within 14 calendar days from the date it was issued and request a hearing.
When the violation is issued for a misdemeanor, the Court will automatically mail you an arraignment/appearance date to appear in court. The violation will indicate "Court Only" OR list a fine amount. When it indicates "Court Only" you are required to appear in court. If the violation has a fine listed, then it is payable prior to the appearance date. If you do not pay the violation by your appearance date, then you are required to appear in court on your appearance date. Failure to appear on your appearance date will result in a bench warrant being issued for your arrest. To have a bench warrant cancelled an individual must do one of the following:
Post a cash bond to receive a new court date.
Appear before the court on the bench warrant on any Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. The Magistrate may require that a cash bond be posted at that time.
