Tree Trimming Crews are Out

The targeted sections for this year's right-of-way tree maintenance pruning are in the neighborhoods south of Gardenia, on both sides of John R.

Pruning trees encourages a healthy growth pattern, extending the life of the tree, and preventing damage from vehicles and storms. This work is typically done over the winter months, which gives the cuts time to heal by spring, protecting the tree from insects and disease. DPS is constantly monitoring our right-of-way tree stock and identifying sections in need of pruning, which is done on a 7-10 year rotation. Although the tree may look very different, even thin after this work is performed, rest assured it will leaf out and look spectacular in the spring! Our goal is to preserve and strengthen the tree canopy in Madison Heights, and our robust pruning program is an integral part of this goal. If you see a tree crew on your street, please park in the driveway, if at all possible, to allow them the space to work.

*Note* All work is weather dependent; due to the unique challenges of winter in Michigan, it is not possible for DPS to define where they or the contractor will be working on what day.
