Local police and fire departments are exploring ways to respond to an active shooter situation.The Madison Heights Fire Department hosted a drill at Lamphere High School to prepare first responders and engage students.Eight fire departments and police agencies from Oakland County created a protocol on what to do in the event of a mass casualty school shooting. "A portion we're practicing is called rescue task force," said firefighter Kevin Powers. "It's where police come together quickly and treat them and transport them to a hospital." Students from the high school's drama team played the victims. They say they were happy to participate out of fear it could become a reality.
