The contract for the Wildwood Park playground replacement was awarded by City Council at the meeting of 6/24/19 to the lowest responsible bidder, Michigan Recreation Construction. The planned playground features an ADA accessible playscape, as well as several other stand-alone amenities, including a web-climber, bouncers, and spinners, all with a focus on ADA and Universal Accessiblity standards. Construction is slated to start ASAP, with completion by mid-August, weather permitting. This project is being partially funded by a Recreation Passport Grant from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
Check out the DNR approved site plan and playscape detail to get an idea of what the new playground will look like. Please note, these designs are approved concept only; some design may change based on manufacturer availability and conditions in the field. The new playground is only part of the reimagining of Wildwood Park this summer, so be sure to keep an eye on madison-heights.org for further updates!
