Deputy Chief Ray Gilson was appointed to his position on March 17, 2025, and has proudly served with the department since 2011. He began his fire service career in 2008 with Macomb Township as a paid-on-call firefighter before joining Madison Heights. Ray holds an Associate Degree from Macomb Community College, is a graduate of the Eastern Michigan University School of Staff and Command, and is also a licensed paramedic. In addition to his fire service experience, he has an automotive background and oversees the department’s apparatus. During his career with Madison Heights, Ray was promoted to Lieutenant in 2018 and Captain in 2024.
