Community Improvement Division

The Community Improvement Division is a federally funded division of the Community Development Department. It administers the City's Community Development Block Grant Program to benefit low-income and moderate-income residents.

Block Grant funds are used for the Home Chore Program and code enforcement.

Home Improvement Loans

Need help with your home repairs? Qualified homeowners may be eligiblefor interest-free loans up to $18,000 to carry out needed home repairs.

The Oakland County Community Home and Improvement Program is now accepting applications for low interest and/or deferred loans for home improvement repairs. Loans are offered at a low or deferred interest rate. Deferred loans are available, and eligibility is determined by household income.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, homeowners must meet income guidelines and be an owner/occupant of a single family home in Madison Heights. Low income persons, including the elderly and disabled, are encouraged to apply. Michigan State Housing Development Authority

The Madison Heights Housing Commission was disbanded on July 1, 2013. The Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) now administers all rental assistance (Section 8) cases.
